Burj Estate Network Backbone

A complete backbone refit before the AV and CCTV systems were rebuilt. We rebuilt the rack, ran Cat6A to every wall plate, added a fibre backbone between floors, and bonded Etisalat and du with sub-second failover.

The Brief

The existing rack was a wiring nightmare: unlabelled patches, thermal alarms, dropped connections during peak use. The owner wanted the whole thing rebuilt properly before adding any new AV or CCTV load.

The Build

Full rack rebuild

Old rack decommissioned, replaced with a 24U ventilated cabinet, redundant UPS, temperature monitoring, and a labelled patch panel per floor.

10G core, 1G edge

Core switching at 10G with SFP+ trunks to floor switches. Edge ports at 1G — plenty for anything short of a 4K editing suite.

Dual-WAN with sub-second failover

Etisalat 1Gbps fibre + du 500Mbps LTE backup. A pfSense-based gateway fails over in under 800ms — Zoom calls stay up.

Certified cabling

All 62 Cat6A drops tested and certified. Reports delivered with the handover pack.

The Outcome

  • Zero unplanned network downtime in the six months since handover.
  • Failover has kicked in twice — nobody in the house noticed.
  • New AV and CCTV work is now landing cleanly onto a documented, labelled network.
