This was a live-in retrofit: the family stayed in the apartment during the entire install. We staged the work by wing so the kitchen and master were never both offline. The centrepiece is a Sonos Amp-driven audio system tied into every scene.

The Brief
Owners wanted the "hotel suite" feeling every morning: shades open at the alarm, coffee light on at the kitchen island, calm audio playing — without touching a phone.
The Build
Retrofit with zero fresh cabling
We reused the developer's existing lighting bus and layered a Lutron RadioRA 3 wireless system on top. No walls opened, no ceilings dropped.
Kitchen tablet as the hub
A single wall-mounted iPad Pro in a Basalte frame runs the Lutron app, Sonos S2 and the intercom. Guests understand it in five seconds.
Wake-up automation
Bedroom shades ease open across a 20-minute ramp before the alarm. Kitchen counter light comes on at 30%. Sonos plays a curated wake playlist at –35 dB.
The Outcome
- Morning routine now runs untouched, seven days a week.
- Owner reports better sleep after four weeks of the sunrise ramp.
- Zero remedial work — install completed on time with the family in-residence.
