The family had five different mesh pods scattered across the villa and still lost signal at the pool. We started clean: a proper survey, seven Ubiquiti U6 Enterprise APs, wired backhaul everywhere, and one seamless SSID.

The Brief
Consumer mesh pods were "kind of working" but the pool deck and gym both dropped video calls. The family wanted one network name from arrival gate to pool deck.
The Build
Survey first, hardware second
We placed temporary APs and walked the villa with a spectrum analyser before committing to positions. Ended up with seven APs where the client was expecting eleven.
Wired backhaul, not wireless mesh
Every AP homed to the rack over Cat6A. No mesh hops means no bandwidth halving between rooms.
Separate networks for family, IoT and guests
Three SSIDs on three VLANs. Guest network is rate-limited and expires in 24 hours per QR code.
The Outcome
- 68 devices, one SSID, no roaming drops in a two-week soak test.
- Pool deck speeds 480 Mbps down / 380 up on Wi-Fi 6E — measured on iPhone 16 Pro.
- IoT devices isolated on their own VLAN — they cannot see the family laptops.
